My wifes 2008 Explorer Eddie Bauer edition with the auto temp and dual climate control recently had the pass side blowing out hot air even with the temp manually dropped down to coldest temp possible. The driver side has complete control with the temp but not matter what temp you set the pass side at (dual or both) it still blows out hot air.
If you don't have climate control inside the car, then i'd personally change it (OCD!) but if you can live with it then no problems. The work vehicles sensors sometimes go wonky, but being French it upsets the climate control. Outside temp reading 40+ degrees, every setting on the climate control except HI is the coldest AC.
The problem: Periodically (about twice a week or so) the front climate control system (which I'll abbreviate to CCS) shuts off and is completely unresponsive to both the physical buttons on the console as well as the touchscreen controls. The rear CCS has been working with no issues (both touchscreen control and physical rear control), even and had it set to 27c (80.6F) and it was blowing cool air out the panel outlets. I had it set to Bi-Level only. I then set the temp to max it seems hot air comes out, drop it back to 27 and. cool air again.. So reading the manual, there is possible answers to my 2 issues.
